Damodar Kund is the abode of Lord Vishnu and the starting place for Gandaki river. It is referred as ‘Dudh kund’ (Milk lake) and is in the form of a ‘Shanka’ (Conch). The natural mud formation in the lake is clearly visible as ‘Sudarshan Chakra’
Damodar kund is in the upper reaches of Mustang, in the mystic ‘Shangri-La’ region. It is a restricted zone north of the Annapurna ranges and skirting the border of Tibet. Visitors are charged a special permit fee of US $ 500 that is included in our fare.
A trek tour to Damodar kund takes 16 days and facilities enroute are minimum. It can however be covered by chartered Helicopter with an extension to Muktinath Yatra. |
